Scolari returns as Brazil boss

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been confirmed as the new manager of Brazil following Mano Menezes' departure last week.

Reports on Wednesday suggested Scolari's appointment was imminent, and on Thursday the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed the coach's return to the national side.

Scolari led Brazil to their last World Cup title in 2002 and will now be in charge when the five-times winners host the tournament in 2014.

The former Chelsea boss has been without a job since he left Palmeiras in September, having previously led Portugal at the 2006 World Cup and 2004 and 2008 European Championships.

"I feel more motivated, younger, I feel I'm capable," Scolari said. "We have the obligation to win the title; we are not favourites at the moment but we intend to become favourites during the competition.

"Third or fourth place is no good for a country that has won five World Cups."
