Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful of having Scott Parker back in the fold ahead of the busy festive period.

England star Parker has not tasted any first-team action this season after going under the surgeon's knife to remedy an Achilles problem in August.

Parker has been sorely missed, with Villas-Boas describing the midfielder as "decisive", but he is now back in light training and on the brink of a comeback.

"He is in light training but we hope in the next two weeks he will be available. He is making big progress," Villas-Boas told the Sun.

"His impact can be decisive. He was player of the season last year and we expect him to be one of our main strengths.

"He hasn't lost his abilities. Now we have resumed light training with him he has been absolutely amazing."
