AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi insists that the prospect of the club signing Manchester City's Mario Balotelli is alive, while also claiming credit for motivating the squad to improve in recent weeks.

Milan currently sit seventh in the Serie A table after a poor run at the start of the season. However, they have turned things around with two wins on the bounce - including a 1-0 defeat of table topping Juventus - which has eased the pressure on coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Many pundits have called for more power in the Milan squad, with the 22-year-old Balotelli always one of the first names to appear given his situation as third-choice striker at City.

And, speaking as he arrived at the stadium following yet another visit to the club's Milanello training ground, Berlusconi said of rumours surrounding the striker: "Balotelli? He is not a dream," while daughter Barbera - a director with the Rossoneri - added: "The transfer window only opens in January."

Berlusconi was more forthcoming when discussing his now regular visits to training sessions, telling reporters he was glad it appeared to benefit the players.

"I hope Milan continue like this," he said of recent their league form. "I am pleased that my visits fire up the squad, as my players say."
