Andre Villas-Boas has brushed off suggestions Tottenham would look to sell Scott Parker in January.

Parker has not played for Spurs this term on account of an injury he picked up at Euro 2012. He is closing in on a return to fitness, he came through 90 minutes of a 5-1 reserve friendly defeat by Ipswich, but there has been talk that Spurs may look to offload the 32-year-old.

Villas-Boas claims club and player are focused on the midfielder returning to fitness which will increase the Tottenham boss' options.

"There is competition, but we have not been able to rest as much as we had wanted," Villas-Boas said. "The more options the better for me."

When asked if the club would look to sell Parker, Villas-Boas replied: "I think at the moment he is focused on getting back.

"We don't doubt his ability and his qualities. He is a player we trust and rate very highly.

"That is not even a consideration," he said when pressed again on whether Parker would be made available for transfer.
