Jack Wilshere is ready to make a huge mark for Arsenal by claiming he is closing in on 100% fitness.

Wilshere spent over a year on the sidelines with an ankle injury, before making a promising return to action with the Gunners this term.

His effort in Arsenal's home win over West Brom on Saturday was arguably his best display since returning from injury and it impressed his manager Arsene Wenger who said: "This is the first time I see him very, very close to the player he is."

Wilshere feels he is now at 90% and expects that extra 10% to make a huge difference.

"I have got better every game, I'm maybe 90% fit now," the midfielder said. "Every game that goes by, I feel better and better fitness-wise. When I get up to 100%, I will really show what I can do.

"It's a new experience for my first injury. I didn't know what to expect. I spoke to a few players who have had long-term injuries. They said you will come back and have a good game and you think 'I am back,' then you will have another game and you are not so good.

"I think the first few games my adrenalin got me through which is why I was so up for it. Then you start to realise it is not as simple as that and things start catching up with you. Then you start to get back to your best."
