Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that transfer activity is beginning to take shape as the January window draws closer.

Arsenal have been at the centre of a lot of speculation over the last few days, with a move for Manchester United misfit Nani one of the latest stories along with talk of another return to the Emirates for Thierry Henry.

Referring specifically to any loan deal for Henry from New York Red Bulls, Wenger merely said "there is no news to report".

He did reveal, though, how much busier it has become at Emirates Stadium as clubs begin to do their business.

"At the moment, we speak with many people," Wenger said. "But I would say at the beginning of December, the transfer market becomes active - but more because people speak to you, rather than you speak to them. Everybody offers you so many players that you are always necessarily involved in it. Every day you have that."

The exact extent of Arsenal's interest is Nani is unknown but ESPN understands that United are open to any offers for the winger, with Alex Ferguson willing to sell after a series of disagreements.

Arsenal may face competition from the Old Trafford side too, though, as United's interest in Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha is increasing. Although Wenger's side have been favourites to sign the forward, Ferguson is understood to have become increasingly convinced of the importance of signing such a talent should he become available.

Many newspapers reported on Sunday that Palace may be more open to selling to United, rather than Arsenal, if they allowed Zaha to go back on loan at Selhurst Park until the end of the season in order to help the London club's promotion push. United agreed a similar deal with Fulham in 2010 over Chris Smalling, when the two clubs pre-agreed a deal for the player to move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
