Hutchinson has sights on Liverpool prize

Mansfield striker Ben Hutchinson is determined to help his team beat fellow Conference National side Lincoln in order to advance to a dream FA Cup tie against seven-time winners Liverpool.

Hutchinson, 25, played for Lincoln on loan from Celtic two years ago before leaving Parkhead for Kilmarnock and then Mansfield, where he has been since arriving on a free transfer in January of this year.

The forward is trying to rebuild his career at Mansfield, having played for Celtic against Manchester United in the Champions League only four years ago.

And the former Imp is desperate to knock his ex-club out of the FA Cup when the two sides meet in their second round replay on Wednesday, live on ESPN, mainly because of the incentive of a third round clash with Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool.

"Wednesday is a massive game. To play against Liverpool would be amazing," Hutchinson said. "There is a great incentive there to go through. But first we have to do a job against Lincoln.

"I have some history there at Lincoln, so bring it on! We can't wait. The fans can be the 12th man on Wednesday. We all know what is at stake.''

Mansfield go into the game on the back of a 4-1 win over Ebbsfleet, while Lincoln also scored four in an impressive 4-2 victory at Dartford, with Colin Larkin netting a hat-trick.

Elsewhere, Oxford United entertain Accrington in another other second-round replay, with the winners facing an away day at Sheffield United.

"It's a big game. It's a big game for the players to get into the third round - and it's a big game financially for both clubs," United boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Oxford.

"Hopefully progression in the FA Cup will give me a little bit of leeway to progress the squad. I'm looking in January to improve. This is money we can potentially use to improve and strengthen the squad.

"We have to make sure our recruitment is right, and make sure we get players in positions to kick us on into the second half of the season, and that all helps with a decent cup run.''

Accrington defender Dean Winnard said: "We are obviously not the richest of clubs so they are important games for a club like ours.''
