Bradford reinstated into FA Cup by the FA

Bradford City have had their expulsion from the FA Cup overturned after a successful appeal to the Football Association.

Bradford were kicked out of the competition last week for fielding an ineligible player in their second-round match against Brentford.

Curtis Good, on loan from Newcastle, played in the 1-1 draw without receiving written permission from the FA by the 12pm deadline on the Friday of the tie.

But after initially expelling Bradford, the FA has now decided to allow the club - who recorded a memorable League Cup upset against Premier League side Arsenal on Tuesday - back into the competition. Bradford have instead been issued with a fine.

An official statement from Bradford read: "We can confirm that on appeal the club has now been reinstated back into the FA Cup competition and has been fined for its actions.

"We deeply regret our breach of the rules and are currently reviewing our procedures to ensure no repeat of this situation."

Phil Parkinson's side now face a replay against Brentford at Griffin Park next Tuesday for a chance to meet Southend in the third round in January.
