Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones has committed his long-term future to Liverpool by signing a new contract.

Jones, who moved to Anfield from Middlesbrough in 2010, has been a back-up to first-choice Pepe Reina during his time on Merseyside.

Jones made only four appearances during his first two seasons at the club, but did play in April's FA Cup semi-final victory over Everton when both Reina and Alexander Doni were suspended.

The 30-year-old has moved up from third to second choice this season because Doni has been back home in Brazil on leave, and he has made ten appearances for Liverpool this season, filling in for four league games when Reina picked up a hamstring injury in October, as well as appearing in the Europa League and Capital One Cup.

Jones said on Twitter: "Very happy to be staying at such a great club. Only one place to be. YNWA [You'll Never Walk Alone]."

Manager Brendan Rodgers has repeatedly indicated that Reina is his first-choice goalkeeper, but has also praised Jones for his professionalism in being ready to step in when needed.

"In the games Brad has played, he's showed he is a very loyal and supportive No. 2," Rodgers said recently. "When I came in during the summer, he had been the No. 3 keeper but I've seen massive development and it's a great credit to him."
