Roma have said they are "not in touch with any other clubs and have not received any offers" for Daniele De Rossi despite continued speculation linking the midfielder with a move to Manchester City during the January transfer window.

De Rossi, 29, has reportedly been at odds with Zdenek Zeman as the coach refuses to select him in a central midfield role and has dropped the player - who was allegedly close to joining City last summer - on numerous occasions.

However, speaking at a press conference to announce the arrival of new CEO Italo Zanzi, Franco Baldini stated that the club have no plans to sell the Rome native.

The director general told reporters: "The president enjoyed himself this morning by reading about how many clubs we had sold De Rossi to. As I've always said, there is no intention of selling him."

Club president James Pallotta also reinforced their stance on De Rossi before going on to discuss the plans to build a new stadium as part of his vision for Roma's future.

He said: "We have no intention of selling him, we're not in touch with any other clubs and we have not received any offers. It's all speculation.

"The principle objective is to create a good side from now for the next 10 years and one of the biggest brands in the world. This year's target is to qualify for the Champions League and we'll be disappointed if that doesn't happen.

"The first step is to find a location for the stadium. We're working to have a new arena within the next five years."
