Martinez ready to turn Henriquez into finished article
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is confident he can help turn Manchester United striker Angelo Henriquez into the finished article - just as he did with United midfielder Tom Cleverley.
Wigan are on the verge of completing a loan deal for the young United striker, as they look to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.
Henriquez only joined United in the summer but has so far struggled to break into the first team setup at Old Trafford - but Martinez believes a spell at the DW Stadium will improve upon his natural skills and prepare him for a fruitful Premier League career.
"Angelo is as good a goalscorer as you will find," said Martinez, quoted in the Daily Mirror. "He scored goals at Universidad de Chile and he is going to score goals here [in England].
"I am sure he will be an important player for United.
"We are glad we can work with him and he can use Wigan as Tom Cleverley did and adapt to what is needed in this league."
After spending a season on loan with Wigan, Cleverley returned to United and has subsequently established himself as a valuable midfield option for both club and country.
