Sturridge set for Liverpool medical
Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge will have a medical at Liverpool on Sunday, according to widespread reports.
Liverpool's interest in Sturridge is long-standing and it is believed terms have been agreed for a £12 million move when the transfer window opens in 10 days' time.
The imminent transfer of the forward follows months of speculation and weeks of discussion between the two clubs. It was initially thought Sturridge would join the Merseyside club in the summer but Chelsea's failure to sign another striker scuppered the deal.
Midfielder Thomas Ince should also return to Anfield in January, just 18 months after he was sold to Blackpool. The two clubs are still haggling over the price with Blackpool asking for £6 million for the England Under-21 star.
Meanwhile, Stewart Downing may not be leaving the club in January after Brendan Rodgers suggested the winger could become a first-team regular.
Downing played a starring role in Liverpool's 4-0 thumping of Fulham at Anfield, prompting Rodgers to clarify that he did not want the England international to leave.
