Liverpool have confirmed the signing of forward Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Anfield on Wednesday. The Merseyside club did not disclose the transfer fee paid, but it is widely believed to be in the region of £12 million.

"I am humbled and happy to be here," said Sturridge, who will wear the No. 15 shirt.

"Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time - and I also see myself here for a long time. I've not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.

"I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Sturridge will immediately bolster Liverpool's attacking options, with manager Brendan Rodgers forced to rely heavily on Luis Suarez so far this season following a long-term injury to Fabio Borini.

Sturridge, who began his career at Manchester City before moving to Chelsea in 2009, scored 24 times during his time at Stamford Bridge. He has received four England caps in his career to date.
