Snodgrass evades FA action over ref tweet

Norwich midfielder Robert Snodgrass will not face disciplinary action from the Football Association for questioning the performance of referee Mark Clattenburg on Twitter.

Snodgrass, 25, was left incensed by Clattenburg's decision to award a penalty to West Ham in the early stages of Norwich's 2-1 defeat to the Hammers on New Year's Day.

The Scotland international felt the spot-kick, given after Ryan Bennett was adjudged to have pulled the shirt of Winston Reid, changed the complexion of the game.

The loss at Upton Park was the Canaries' fourth in a row over the Christmas period and Snodgrass vented his frustration, tweeting: "The referee kills the game. If that's a pen you will need to give 100 pens a season, small decisions change games.''

However, he will not be reprimanded for the comments as players and managers are allowed to criticise refereeing decisions as long as they do not imply bias.
