Liverpool were dealt a setback on Friday with news Jose Enrique will be sidelined for six weeks by a torn hamstring.

Enrique limped off during the second half of Liverpool's 3-0 victory over QPR, and it was instantly feared that he would face a lengthy layoff.

"Like the doctor staff say I will be out for 6 weeks," Enrique tweeted. "I will try to do my best to be earlier. Thanks for your support. Amazing like always."

Having been overlooked by Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season, Enrique had returned to form in recent weeks, even being used as a left midfielder in a number of games as Rodgers acknowledged the Spaniard's technique.

Rodgers commented: "He has looked fantastic in the games but it looks like he'll probably be out for up to six weeks with his hamstring.

"It's a shame because in the game he felt nothing. Sometimes you can enter the games and be tight and stiff. He felt great, and even within the game."
