Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Daniel Sturridge might be Liverpool's one and only signing of the January transfer window, revealing there is no news on reported moves for Tom Ince and Jack Butland.

Liverpool spent in the region of £12 million on Sturridge, bolstering a forward line that has relied upon the prodigious talent of Luis Suarez, in addition to impressive contributions from youngsters Raheem Sterling and Suso.

Rodgers, who was speaking ahead of Liverpool's third round FA Cup trip to Mansfield - which is live on ESPN on Sunday - was then quizzed about two more potential purchases in Ince and Butland.

Ince, formerly a Liverpool academy player, has been linked to a £6 million return, but when asked if there had been any progress with the deal Rodgers replied: "No."

He was then asked about Birmingham keeper Butland, who impressed during the summer as Great Britain's No. 1 and was recently said to be the subject of talks with Liverpool by Birmingham acting chairman Peter Pannu.

Rodgers was asked if there was interest in Butland, to which he again replied "No," before adding: "We are not going to have a lot of money to do anything [else] in the window.

"We won't have that in January. There might be another but there is not much more business to be done."

Rodgers also paid tribute to the departing Joe Cole, who sealed a move to West Ham on Friday. The Liverpool boss said it was a good deal for all three parties that the midfielder moved on.

"Joe's a good guy, I've known him for a long time. It's been difficult for him since he arrived here but for the time I've been here he's not been a minute's problem.

"He's a good man, he's gone back to his home to play, he loves the club. So both parties move on."
