Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh has joined West Ham United on loan until the end of the season.

Chamakh, 28, has not made a Premier League appearance for the Gunners this season, leading to speculation that his future is likely to lie elsewhere.

On Friday, it was indicated that West Ham were keen on the Morocco international, although concerns about the deal were expressed by West Ham co-owner David Sullivan's son, Jack.

"I am very sorry about this news Chamakh has sign a 6 month loan deal!" he tweeted. "not my pick :("

He later added: "I hope Chamakh can prove me wrong !?!?!?!"

Allardyce spoke to Sky Sports News on Friday, confirming that an agreement with the Gunners had been reached, although Chamakh will not be available for West Ham's FA Cup tie with Manchester United this weekend.

After signing, Chamakh vowed to shake off his lack of game time at Arsenal and show the Upton Park faithful what he can do.

"I'm very happy to be here," he told West Ham's website. "I want to play and give my best for this team. I can bring my heading, some goals and we will see what else.

"I think this will be a very important move for me and I don't want to waste any more time. I want to contribute immediately. I didn't have any opportunities to play recently, but I did well before and I know I am a very good striker. We played only one striker at Arsenal so I didn't play a lot. So I hope to do so more with West Ham."
