Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has admitted he is concerned as to whether Jack Rodwell will be able to shake off injuries and realise his potential.

Rodwell joined City from Everton in a £12 million deal last summer, but he has made just two starts on account of a persistent hamstring problem.

It is an injury that is causing real concern for City, so much that Mancini has admitted he fears the midfielder could struggle to hit the heights expected of him.

"I'm worried because when we bought him we thought he was a good player and then he has these problems with his hamstrings," Mancini is quoted as saying in the Times.

Mancini claims the club's medical staff are doing everything in their power to find a solution and hopes Rodwell could be back in action before the end of the month.

"We hope we can improve the situation for him because he's young, he's got quality, he has everything to have a good career," Mancini said. "He's getting better and we hope maybe we can recover him in two or three weeks."
