Ryan Nelsen is set to leave Queens Park Rangers after being appointed manager of Toronto FC.

The Major League Soccer side were keen to bring in Nelsen ahead of the 2013 season but QPR manager Harry Redknapp had hoped to hang onto the 35-year-old defender until the summer.

Nelsen is under contract with QPR until June, but is seeking talks with Harry Redknapp to discuss when he will be able to join his new club. As it stands he will be available to face Spurs this weekend, having made five appearances for the opposition before heading to Loftus Road.

Nelsen, who spent four years in the MLS with DC United before moving to Blackburn in 2005 has been a key player for Rangers this season since arriving from Tottenham in June, making 21 appearances in all competitions.
