Borussia Dortmund officials have rejected rumours that on-loan Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin is to re-sign for the club.

Late on Tuesday evening, Sport Bild's online outlet claimed a deal to bring back Sahin - who signed for Liverpool on a season-long loan from Real Madrid in the summer - to Dortmund was 99% done.

Within minutes, the club rubbished the rumour. "I cannot confirm there have been any negotiations," Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten.

In an interview with Westfalische Allgemeine, Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc blamed the internet for the Sahin rumour. "I have also read about it," he said. "It's a Daily Mail story. They also reported that Sven Bender was to head to Manchester United.

"I am not responsible for every rumour and don't want to comment on it. It's all too much. With the internet we have three possible new squad members every day. This would add up to 100 players some day. You cannot fight those rumours, we have to live with the fact that we are permanently involved in speculations."

Since leaving Dortmund for Real in 2011, Sahin, 24, has been linked with a move back to his former club several times. Recently reflecting on the conjecture, Zorc said: "Those stories are nonsense and baloney. I've said 130 times there is no truth to it."
