QPR have announced the appointment of Ian Broomfield as chief scout.

Broomfield comes to Loftus Road having previously worked with first team manager Harry Redknapp at both Portsmouth and Tottenham, and his role has been described as "identifying potential transfer targets and working closely with the academy to nurture future stars".

"I've worked closely with Harry for a number of years now, so it's great to link up with him again," Broomfield told the club's official website.

"A scouting job is 24/7 and I've never really had a break for 25 years, but I left Spurs in September and I'm refreshed and looking forward to working back in football.

"The opportunity to work with Harry again was ideal. When I spoke to the hierarchy at the club about the plans they have to take QPR forward, it sounded like the kind of project I wanted to be part of."

Rangers, bottom of the Premier League have already been busy in the January transfer window with Kieron Dyer leaving the club and defender Tal Ben Haim arriving on a free transfer with further deals expected to take place before the end of the month.
