Sir Alex Ferguson sees no need to call for calm ahead of Manchester United's clash with Liverpool, with the Scot insisting the Luis Suarez-Patrice Evra affair has been consigned to the history books.

Suarez served an eight-game suspension after being found guilty of racially abusing Evra and tensions were raised when the Uruguayan did not shake hands with Evra last season.

The Liverpool forward will likely be the man in focus at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Ferguson does not see a need to call for calm from supporters.

"Last year, it was unfortunate with the Suarez behaviour," Ferguson said. "But I think, hopefully, it's behind both clubs now and we can just look forward to the game.

"There will always be a certain build-up to a Manchester United-Liverpool game simply because of the history between the two clubs, the two most successful in the country.

"It brings its own agenda in terms of profile and pre-match discussion."
