Cahill at a loss to explain Chelsea slump

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is struggling to put his finger on what has happened to the club's home form of late.

The Blues have lost their last two games at Stamford Bridge - including a 2-0 defeat to Swansea that leaves their Capital One Cup hopes in tatters - while they have failed to score in four of their last six home encounters.

Interim boss Rafael Benitez seemed to have silenced some of his critics in recent weeks, but recent results have prompted a return of the home crowd's animosity towards the Spaniard.

On the road, Chelsea have secured six wins out of their last seven and Cahill is at a loss to explain his side's dramatic lack of consistency.

"I don't know [what's happened] with our home form," he told the Daily Mirror.

"Normally, we are unbelievably hard to beat at Stamford Bridge and we have been getting results. We just have to be consistent in what we are doing.

"Sometimes, we are playing fantastic stuff like you saw against Southampton and Everton but then we chuck it away against QPR and now Swansea."

Chelsea may face some trouble on the road on Saturday as they take on Stoke at the Britannia Stadium - a side who have yet to lose at home this season.
