Sunderland and West Brom dumped out of FA Cup

Marvin Sordell struck a second-half double as Championship side Bolton booked an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Everton after stunning dismal Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.

Sordell slid home a 64th-minute penalty and wrapped up victory nine minutes later as Dougie Freedman's men made sure of victory 10 days after blowing a two-goal lead in their Reebok Stadium clash.

QPR put their relegation worries to one side as Jay Bothroyd's second-half goal earned them a 1-0 victory over West Brom in an FA Cup third-round replay at The Hawthorns.

Bothroyd, back from a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday, settled the tie when he headed home a corner from Alejandro Faurlin. But he was denied the chance of a reunion with the Owls as they were beaten by MK Dons who will now visit Loftus Road in the fourth round.

Jon Walters bounced back from his Chelsea nightmare in style by netting a brace to help Stoke to a 4-1 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace at the Britannia Stadium. Walters endured a miserable time of it in the Potters' 4-0 Premier League defeat to the Blues on Saturday, scoring two own goals and missing a penalty.

He received a vote of confidence from manager Tony Pulis, who opted to keep the forward in the team, and Walters responded by heading home to put Stoke 2-1 up in the fifth minute of extra-time before adding his second with 10 minutes remaining. Substitute Cameron Jerome then wrapped up the win with a strike in the dying moments.

Brede Hangeland headed a late extra-time winner as Fulham snatched a place in the FA Cup fourth round at the expense of Blackpool with a 2-1 win at Bloomfield Road.

The managerless Championship side looked to have dumped out their Premier League visitors when Nathan Delfouneso struck after 82 minutes on a freezing cold night at Bloomfield Road. But Kieran Richardson came off the bench to rescue Fulham in injury time and Hangeland headed home in the 116th minute to book a date with Manchester United or West Ham.

Eddie Howe's unbeaten return as Bournemouth boss ended as the Cherries could not recreate their famous FA Cup upset of 1984 following a hard-fought 1-0 defeat to Wigan.

Bournemouth recorded a 2-0 third-round win over then-holders Manchester United under the guidance of Harry Redknapp a little more than 29 years ago but Howe's 18-game unbeaten run since taking over for his second spell on the south coast was ended by a much-altered Wigan side.

Roberto Martinez made nine changes to his team from that which drew at Fulham and one of those to come into the side, Argentina forward Mauro Boselli, struck a tremendous first-half goal to put the Premier League outfit into the next round.

Leeds set up an FA Cup tie at home against Tottenham after coming from behind to dump out Birmingham 2-1 at St Andrew's. Wade Elliott put Blues ahead shortly after the half-hour mark, just as he had done in the initial meeting which finished 1-1 10 days ago.

But once again Leeds levelled after the break, this time courtesy of Ross McCormack's first goal since September - an effort which had not looked like coming with 19-goal striker Luciano Becchio, a reported January transfer target for a handful of clubs, missing due to illness.

El-Hadji Diouf, celebrating his 32nd birthday, then quickly completed the turnaround, keeping his cool to chip home from the penalty spot after Paul Robinson had been penalised for handball.

Brentford lined up a dream west London derby with holders Chelsea thanks to a thrilling 2-1 replay win over Southend. But they had to sweat until Clayton Donaldson's 76th-minute winner after coming up against former goalkeeper Paul Smith in inspirational form.

MK Dons reached the FA Cup fourth round for the first time in their short history with a 2-0 replay victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Shaun Williams' first-half penalty and a fortuitous second goal from a Dean Bowditch free-kick saw the League One team overcome their Championship opponents at stadium:mk.

The midfielder's shot from the edge of the penalty area squirmed away from the despairing dive of Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones and rolled into the net.
