Armstrong stripped of Olympic medal
Ahead of the airing of his 'no holds barred' interview with Oprah Winfrey, Lance Armstrong has suffered a fresh blow with the news he has been stripped of his bronze medal from the 2000 Olympic Games.
Armstrong's career has been left in ruins by a United States Anti-Doping Agency report into drug use in cycling. The report claimed the American ran "the most sophisticated, professionalised and successful doping programme that sport has ever seen".
He has been banned from competition for life, lost a host of sponsors and been stripped of his Tour de France titles.
It emerged last week that he would speak publicly on the Oprah Winfrey Show, with it being widely reported that he would confess to doping.
The interview will be aired on Thursday and it will be screened with Armstrong no longer able to claim to being an Olympic medallist after the IOC elected to strip him of the medal he won in Sydney.
