Rodwell moves house to solve injury problems

Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has moved house, changed his pillow and his car in a bid to end the persistent injury problems that have blighted his career.

Rodwell, 21, has been out for the last three months with the latest in a lengthy list of hamstring injuries he has suffered.

And the England international is hoping a series of changes to his lifestyle will help him to stay fit and realise his potential.

"You have to rule everything out. I have changed my pillow and other silly stuff, but that's part and parcel of being a footballer," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"I changed my car completely - I was in a sports car and changed to a Jeep which is more stable for the back and doesn't put too much stress on it.

"I am also about ten minutes' drive from training now so don't spend a lot of time in the car. I used to feel a little bit stiff. I moved so I don't have to drive for too long to get there in the morning."

Rodwell, a £12 million summer signing from Everton, who could make his comeback against QPR on January 29, takes heart from the career of Ryan Giggs, who had similar injuries in his younger days.

"I have also started doing yoga," he said. "A lot of people said the same happened for Ryan Giggs, that throughout his youth he got a lot of hamstrings. He started yoga, and so have I. I am just trying to do everything right."
