The FA Cup final will again close the English season from next year.

The Sun reports that the Premier League has confirmed its competition will end before the Wembley showpiece is played for the next three seasons.

A Premier League timetable reveals that the 2013-14 season will begin on August 17 and finish on May 11, with the FA Cup final being played on Saturday May 17.

Recent years have seen the final sandwiched by top flight fixtures, with last year's match between Chelsea and Liverpool kicking off at 5.15pm after Arsenal and Norwich had drawn 3-3 at the Emirates in a lunchtime match.

Several top flight matches were also played on the following day, but the FA Cup final will again have its own weekend and bring down the curtain on the season - just as it always used to.

The staging of the Champions League finals between Barcelona and Manchester United in 2011 and the final of this season's competition at Wembley have also had a bearing on the timing of the Cup final.
