Goalkeeper Pepe Reina will miss Liverpool's FA Cup fourth-round tie at Oldham on Sunday, while defender Glen Johnson is a doubt.

Reina sat out Saturday's 5-0 win over Norwich with both a thigh problem and a broken nose, but is likely to return for Wednesday's Premier League game at Arsenal. Brad Jones will continue to deputise.

England international Johnson has hamstring trouble which, with Jose Enrique already out with a hamstring injury, could leave Liverpool short of full-backs for the trip to Boundary Park.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said: "Jose Enrique is making good progress. [Sunday is] too soon, but by next week he will probably be fine.

"We will have a look at Glen Johnson as well. He is a bit stiff in his hamstrings, so we will just monitor him. It is nothing serious, but it is something we will assess."

The Liverpool manager will include in-form strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in his squad to face League One strugglers Oldham, who have only taken one point from their last eight games.

"Both of those will travel," Rodgers added. "We are taking a strong squad. It is a tournament we want to do well in."

Liverpool have won the FA Cup seven times and were beaten finalists last season, and Rodgers believes silverware is vital for the club.

He said: "At a club like this, you will be judged on your trophies. The history of this football club is based on winning. You come here and second is no good.

"That is what the foundations of this club has been built on. Over many years, they have achieved such great trophies and great accolades. This is a competition where we have a genuine chance.

"The League Cup is a competition where we blooded many of our young players, but this is a competition we want to do very well in, along with the league, and we want to progress."
