Didier Drogba could soon be back in European football with Galatsaray after his management agency confirmed that the Turkish club had made a bid for him.

Recent reports have suggested former Chelsea striker Drogba, who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua, is unhappy in China and wants to return to the European game.

On Sunday, it was reported that Galatasaray - who recently completed the signing of Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan - may already have agreed an 18-month contract with the 34-year-old.

A spokesperson for his managing Sports PR Company told Press Association Sport: "They have made a formal bid for him."

But it is unclear what the exact nature of the move might be, with some reports suggesting that it would initially be a loan arrangement with an option of around £8.5 million for a permanent deal.

Galatasaray, who are in the last 16 of the Champions League - the competition Drogba won for Chelsea when he scored the decisive shootout penalty in last season's final - have also been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Kolo Toure.

Drogba returned to London to train with the Blues during the Chinese off-season as reports intensified that he could cut short his stay in China after only six months.

He is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the African Nations Cup in South Africa.
