David Beckham is on his way to Arsenal to prove he can cut it in the Premier League, according to the Sun.

Former England captain Beckham is a free agent after winding down his contract with LA Galaxy and he has been linked with clubs around the globe.

He recently moved in to a house in London with his wife and children, fuelling speculation that he would be looking to play in England.

The likes of Queens Park Rangers and West Ham had expressed an interest in the 37-year-old, but it would appear as if Arsenal have outflanked their capital rivals.

The Sun claims a 'plan' has been hatched for him to train with the Gunners, with an insider quoted as saying Beckham wanted this kept "hush hush".

Arsenal have confirmed Beckham will arrive for training on Tuesday morning, but it is not clear if it is with a view to proving to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger that he can still operate at the highest level.
