Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Barcelona have no intention of selling striker David Villa.

The Gunners have been linked with making a move for Villa, 31, in the current transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options.

However, when speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Wenger said he has "enough quality strikers" while confirming the Spain international is not for sale.

Wenger said: "Barcelona do not want to sell David Villa. They've have made that very clear.

"You respect the desire that if someone says a player is not for transfer, you expect the other clubs not to try and buy him.

"In January it is very difficult to find a player who can strengthen a team like ours."

When asked if there is any room for negotiation with Barca over Villa, the Frenchman replied: "No."

Wenger also suggested he is happy with his current options up front, adding: "What's important is to buy players who can strengthen the squad. Otherwise, you do nothing. We have enough quality strikers."

Arsenal currently have former England captain David Beckham training with the club, as the midfielder looks to work on his fitness.
