Internacional sporting director Luis Cesar Souto de Moura has opened the door to offers for Tottenham target Leandro Damiao, although he said there would have to be rapid progress if a deal is to be agreed before the close of the transfer window.

Brazil striker Damiao has been tipped to move to White Hart Lane for several months and would likely cost Spurs around £15 million.

"Leandro Damiao will only leave if there is a very quick negotiation, but no official offer has been made," Souto told Brazilian newspaper Correio do Povo. "The news involving interest for Leandro Damiao, especially from Tottenham, will always happen - they come and go.

"Damiao has a lot of quality, is a goal scorer, was the top scorer in the Olympics and he is a very important player. Internacional understand that it's extremely difficult, very difficult, for Leandro Damiao to leave now."

Tottenham's shortage of attackers has been highlighted in recent days. They crashed out of the FA Cup after being forced to play midfielder Clint Dempsey as their lead striker in a 2-1 loss at Leeds United on Sunday, and the misfiring Jermain Defoe then wasted a handful of chances in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw against Norwich at Carrow Road.
