Ba unfazed by Newcastle meeting

Chelsea striker Demba Ba claims that the clash with Newcastle will be "just another game," despite the fact he is likely be heavily booed on his return to St James's Park.

Ba left Newcastle for Chelsea in the January transfer window for a fee of £7.5 million and has continued his excellent form with three goals in four starts for the Blues.

"Whenever you join a club you look at the schedule to see when you can play the team you left," Ba said. "But that is not the most important thing. At the end of the day it is only another game, three points, nothing more than that."

Ba's record of 29 goals in 57 appearances will not save him from a barrage of boos at St James's Park but the striker remains calm.

He said: "Newcastle is going to be a big game for me but I won't let the occasion go overboard. I'm proud of what I did there. The fans gave me 100% from day one to the last day but I gave them the same back, 100%."

The Senegal striker has no regrets about leaving Newcastle and believes he had to take the chance to join Chelsea.

He said: "When you have the chance to play for Chelsea, you take it. Even if we don't win anything this season, I know I made the right choice to come here. You know you are going to win things here. It is a guarantee."

Ba has scored 14 league goals this season and says he is focused on scoring more goals at his new club.

"Now I am at Chelsea, the next level. People expect me to score some goals and that is what I am trying to do," he added. "When you start a game, if you are a striker, you need to score."

"I am not playing for myself; I'm doing it for the tem and to win games. That is what we are here for."
