Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will be supporting fierce cross-town rival Manchester United when the Champions League resumes later this month.

Mancini, whose side trail United by 10 points ahead of its match against Liverpool, is hoping Alex Ferguson's men can continue all the way through to the final, and in the process, take one eye off the Premier League trophy.

And a cheeky Mancini has hinted he may lend his voice to the Red Devils' cause when it faces the might of reigning Spanish champion Real Madrid in the round of 16 tie.

"Of course I will be supporting United when they take on Real Madrid," Mancini said. "I might even go along to watch with a little red and white flag.

"When we played Real Madrid it took a lot out of us and I think United are going to find it difficult as well, because along with Barcelona [Real] are the best in the world right now.

"I do think [United] will find it a little bit harder in February and March and that is when the title might be decided."

Despite the gap to United, Mancini remains confident his side can claw back the margin, starting with the visit of Liverpool.

"When you have 14 games left you still have a chance, because it is a long season and anything can still happen," Mancini added.
