Stoke striker Michael Owen could face action from the Football Association after appearing to throw a punch in the direction of Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta.

The pair clashed towards the end of Stoke's 1-0 defeat on Saturday after a challenge from the Spanish midfielder and Owen reacted by swinging his arm onto his back.

Referee Chris Foy did not book the 33-year-old, but having been caught on camera the striker could now face retrospective action from the FA.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis said: "Arteta's challenge was poor, but Michael should not do that. If Michael has done what he has done and they look at it, then they will deal with it.

"We'll see what they say. Obviously I am going to be biased as it is my football team."
