Fan arrested for attack on Wycombe keeper
Wycombe's win at Gillingham on Monday evening was overshadowed by Chairboys keeper Jordan Archer being attacked by a fan who was subsequently arrested.
Towards the end of the 1-0 win at Priestfield, Archer - who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur - was set to take a goal kick when a supporter entered the field and play and flung himself at the 19-year-old.
The fan was quickly apprehended by a steward and led away.
"Some people give the rest of the Gillingham fans a bad name," Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth told Sky Sports 1. "I don't want to comment too much, but everyone is okay in there.
"Jordan is a tough lad."
Archer was booked following the incident, having kicked the ball away.
On Tuesday morning it was confirmed the teenage supporter had been arrested. Kent Police said: "A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody following an incident in the 93rd minute of the Gillingham v Wycombe match last night.''
In October, a Leeds United supporter attacked Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland and was jailed for four months.
