Ba joins Cech on Chelsea injured list

Chelsea team-mates Demba Ba and David Luiz are set join Petr Cech on the sidelines during the midweek international fixtures, and could be doubts for the Blues' Premier League clash with Wigan.

Ba suffered a broken nose during the 3-2 defeat against his former club Newcastle United on Saturday, and has pulled out of Senegal's match with Guinea.

And former Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed that Brazilian defender Luiz must pass a late fitness test if he is to line up against England at Wembley.

Luiz has been struggling with a calf injury picked up in the dying minutes of Chelsea's Capital One Cup semi-final defeat against Swansea and has not played since.

"Regarding David Luiz he will [have to] pass another exam with our physios, then we will decide whether he will play or not," Scolari told a press conference. "We will not take any risks with him."

Cech withdrew from the Czech Republic squad to face Turkey when an X-ray confirmed that the Blues goalkeeper had broken his little finger at St James' Park.
