Arsenal have money to spend on transfers in the summer and the Sun is claiming that Arsene Wenger has set his sights on Eintracht Frankfurt's Sebastian Rode.

Arsenal are certain to finish their eighth season in a row without a trophy, unless they somehow overturn a 3-1 deficit to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and the Gunners faithful have expressed their frustration with events at the Emirates.

The club's board remain behind Wenger and have made it clear there is money to invest in players this summer.

Arsenal have struggles to fill the void left by Alex Song's departure to Barcelona and a holding midfielder is on Wenger's wish list. The Frenchman is looking to provide cover for his defence and Rode is believed to fit the bill.

The 22-year-old has impressed for Frankfurt and is reported to be being chased by Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.

The two giants of German football would put up a stiff financial fight, but the Sun says Rode would be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Rode has 16 months to run on his present deal and Eintracht may be forced to sell in the summer, as it is being claimed he does not want to sign an extension.
