West Ham United are yet to discover the full extent of Kevin Nolan's foot injury, with The Sun reporting the Hammers captain could be out for up to eight weeks.

Nolan was substituted after just half an hour of Monday night's London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder hobbled off the Upton Park pitch following a tackle from Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele and he was replaced by Matt Taylor. West Ham went on to lose the match 3-2, consigning Sam Allardyce's side to a run of just one win in their last seven Premier League games.

Nolan's foot was so swollen that a scan is still to be made to determine the seriousness of the injury, which will almost certainly rule him out of Saturday's trip to Stoke City and could also see him miss several more matches.

"Kevin's tough and if he can play with a pain-killing injection, then he will," The Sun quotes a club source as saying. "But it's impossible to determine the extent of his injury yet. It could be one week, it could be eight."

Nolan is the club's top scorer in the Premier League this season with six goals. Should his absence be an extended one, he could miss upcoming trips to Chelsea and Liverpool as the Hammers bid to secure their top-flight status.
