Robin van Persie has been passed fit for Manchester United's game against Norwich on Saturday, while Sir Alex Ferguson believes Phil Jones has "a fighting chance" of being available to face Real Madrid on Tuesday.

United's top scorer was forced off in last week's 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers with a hip injury, after colliding with a camera when he tumbled off the pitch at Loftus Road.

However, Van Persie, who has appeared in all 27 league games and has struck 19 times this season, will be available to face the Canaries as Ferguson's side look to extend their advantage over Manchester City - who do not play until Monday - to 15 points.

Jones, meanwhile, is set to start running again on Friday as he aims to recover in time for the Champions League last 16 second-leg clash against Jose Mourinho's side.

The England international suffered an ankle injury in the FA Cup win over Reading on February 18 and left Old Trafford on crutches. Ferguson, though, believes he has a chance of being fit for the Real game.

"He's got a fight on his hands to be ready for Tuesday but we'll give him every chance. He won't be available for tomorrow [Saturday]," Ferguson said.

"We have no [new] injury issues. Robin van Persie has trained this week. He's available for tomorrow. His hip was very tender but he's okay now."
