Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson hopes a decision will be made on the future of Jeffrey Schlupp this week, after he impressed on trial at Manchester United.

Schlupp, 20, has been tracked by United for many months and joined the Red Devils on trial in January with a view to a permanent move. He recently featured in United's Under-21 fixtures against Liverpool and West Ham United.

Born in Hamburg but brought up in Milton Keynes, Ghana international Schlupp is valued at around £2.5 million including add-ons. He has spent most of his career as a forward but has recently been deployed as a left-back.

He has made nine appearances for the Foxes this season.

"I think we'll be discussing this week what the next step is," Pearson said. "He's done well at United, he's played the last two games that he can play there so clearly it's going to have some effect this week."

Leicester currently sit fifth in the Championship, eight points behind Hull City in the second automatic promotion place and could decide to recall Schlupp as back up for the remainder of the season.
