Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo replied "you never know" when asked if he could return to Manchester United - having knocked them out of the Champions League.

Ronaldo scored the winning goal after Nani had been sent off, to seal a 2-1 win at Old Trafford and the £80 million man, back at the stadium for the first time since 2009, claimed it was an unforgettable experience.

"It was unbelievable," he told Sky Sports. "It was an emotional night for me, in both games, but especially tonight. I don't have the words to explain how I feel, but I can use just one word: unbelievable.

"The supporters made me feel shy as, in my opinion in both games I did not play as I play all the time. But I helped my team to score one goal at home and one away.

"I feel happy inside because Madrid go through, but on the other hand I feel a little bit sad because Manchester United deserved it. But that is part of football and I wear the white shirt now."

The game changed on the sending off of Nani, as United were leading 1-0 at the time. But Ronaldo claimed that these things happen in the game.

"I didn't see the replay of what Nani did, but these are situations which happen in football. I don't want to say anything else because I did not see the incident."

Ronaldo was asked about the possibility of a return to the Red Devils in the future, and, while the Portugal international admitted anything is possible, he stressed that he is content at Real.

"In the future, you never know," he said. "The supporters and the club, it is massive. You never know, but I am very happy at Real Madrid and I want to be there.

"We have had an unbelievable week, winning both games against Barcelona and then beating Manchester United. We are in good shape and we want to carry on like that because we want to win this competition."
