The Football Association has charged Wilfried Zaha for improper conduct after the Crystal Palace forward made an alleged obscene gesture towards Leeds United supporters during a Championship clash on Saturday.

Zaha, 20, was seen showing his middle finger towards the away supporters during the 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.

Eagles manager Ian Holloway has also been charged by the FA for alleged misconduct towards the match officials during the same game.

The Palace pair both have until 1600GMT on Friday 15 March to respond to their respective charges.

Zaha, who was signed by Manchester United in January before being loaned back to Selhurst Park for the remainder of the season, apologised for his actions on Sunday.

He wrote on his Twitter account: "On that note I also wanted to apologise for the gesture I did towards the Leeds fans in yesterday's game. Very unprofessional from me."
