Sergio Aguero will miss Manchester City's Premier League clash with Everton on Saturday after the striker returned to his native Argentina for treatment.

The Argentinian striker, who was City's 30-goal top scorer last season, suffered a knee injury in training at the start of March.

He has sat out the 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League and the 5-0 thrashing of Barnsley in the FA Cup.

And now City hope the 24-year-old, who has scored 13 times this year, will be fit to make his comeback Newcastle on March 30.

In the meantime, Aguero has travelled to Buenos Aires to work with the Argentina national team's physios. He has been named in their squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia on March 22 and 26 but it is doubtful he whether he will be able to feature.

In Aguero's absence, City only have two fit senior strikers for the trip to Goodison Park, with Carlos Tevez set to partner Edin Dzeko in attack despite being charged with driving while disqualified and without insurance.

City are also waiting to discover if captain Vincent Kompany, who has been out since January with a calf injury, will finally be ready to take his place in their defence.
