Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham says he is "itching" to get his boots on again after his whirlwind tour of China.

Beckham, 37, flew back to Paris on Sunday after a five-day sojourn in China as part of his new role as ambassador for youth football and the Chinese Super League in the Asian country.

Jetting from Beijing to Qingdao and then Wuhan, the former England captain has been keeping in shape in hotel gyms, but is looking forward to returning to his regular place of work, PSG's Camp des Loges training centre.

"Quite honestly, I've absolutely loved this trip to China, the welcome I've had and the cities I've visited. Having said that, I must confess, I'm itching to put my suit to one side and get my boots on again," Beckham told the club's official website, which followed his every move throughout his stay.

The ex-Manchester United, Real Madrid and Los Angeles Galaxy player will rejoin Carlo Ancelotti's squad to prepare for this weekend's Ligue 1 meeting with Montpellier and next week's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Barcelona.
