Carlos Vela has insisted he has no desire to leave Real Sociedad and return to Arsenal.

Vela joined Arsenal eight years ago and was tipped for greatness under Arsene Wenger. The Mexican showed flashes of real talent but he struggled to nail down a regular start and spent chunks of time away from the club on loan.

Following spells on loan at Salamanca, Osasuna and West Brom, Vela joined Real Sociedad and made a permanent move there last summer.

Arsenal inserted a buy-back clause in the deal and it has been claimed the Gunners are ready to activate it, but Vela has no desire to return to London.

Vela told Spanish news agency EFE: "Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn't have the opportunities that I felt I deserved.

"I am very happy here [at Real Sociedad] and would like to stay here."
