Arsene Wenger has insisted under-pressure Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny has a 'very good future'.

Having seemingly been Arsenal's No. 1, a run of indifferent displays have cast doubt on Szczesny's position at the club.

He has lost his place in recent weeks to Lukasz Fabianski and the pressure was cranked up recently when Szczesny's father teed off at Wenger - blaming the Gunners boss for his son's problems.

Szczesny issued an apology and stated his commitment to the club and it would seem Wenger feels the Poland international has plenty to offer.

"He has a very good future and has accumulated a lot of experience," Wenger said at a press conference ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Reading. "He's nearly played 100 games for this club. That is fantastic.

"There are ups and downs in form and he will have to fight against that, which he has said.

"He lives in a world where competition exists."
