Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has said the Magpies are aiming for a top-ten finish in the Premier League and a place in the Europa League final.

The Senegalese striker has found life much tougher in his second season in England after scoring 13 goals in his first 14 games after arriving at St James' Park.

He has not been alone, with the Magpies failing to recapture the collective form that saw them challenge for a Champions League place this time last year.

However, an upturn in form following the arrival of new faces in January has seen them pull away from the relegation zone into 13th place.

Cisse told the Evening Chronicle: "We have the Europa League still. We are now into the important stages of the competition. Nobody knows if we'll win it, but the aim is to get to the final and I think that we can achieve that.

"I'm happy because I've scored a few goals and the team are starting to play well. We have enough games left that can take us to a top-ten position. That is important for us.

"I know that's the objective of the gaffer [manager Alan Pardew]. We look at our remaining games and we feel we can get the wins we need to do it."
