Rodgers tight-lipped on Carroll future

Brendan Rogers has refused to comment on whether Andy Carroll has a future at Liverpool.

The 24-year-old signed for the Merseyside outfit on transfer deadline day in January 2011 for £35 million from Newcastle, becoming Liverpool's most expensive signing.

However, the striker's career at Anfield has failed to ignite, with Carroll only scoring a total of 11 goals in almost 60 appearances. Currently he is on loan at West Ham.

Liverpool manager Rodgers has revealed the club have been keeping an eye on how Carroll has performed at West Ham, but did not say anything on whether the England international will be returning to Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

"We've monitored it very closely. We've had representatives from Liverpool at most of the games," Rodgers told Fox. "It's obviously been a difficult season for Andy because his initial idea was he wanted to go out and play every week, but unfortunately for him he's picked up some injuries since he's been away.

"But he scored two very good goals at the weekend [against West Brom] and he'll be looking to finish the season on a high and achieve the objectives he wanted to before he went out."

Asked if Carroll will stay at Liverpool, Rodgers said: "It's nothing to discuss now. It's something we'll speak about at the end of the season."
