Edin Dzeko hopes Manchester City can reach a deal to sign his Bosnia and Herzegovina team-mate Miralem Pjanic.

French newspaper L'Equipe claimed earlier this month that City were keen to land Roma midfielder Pjanic as a replacement for Samir Nasri, and suggested he would be available for around €25 million.

Pjanic told SportSport.ba recently that "it's nice when your name is linked with big clubs in Europe", and Dzeko has now confirmed that City are considering a move the 23-year-old.

Asked whether City could sign Pjanic, Dzeko was quoted as telling Sport.ba: "I sincerely hope so.

"I have recommended Pjanic before to Manchester City - they know all about him. On one occasion, the manager, Roberto Mancini, asked me whether Pjanic was Bosnian. I said: 'Of course he's Bosnian!' I wouldn't be surprised if Pjanic came to City, and I sincerely hope he does."

Dzeko's own future is the subject of significant conjecture, and he talked up the possibility of a move back to the Bundesliga earlier this year, but it would appear his decision may be influenced by the possibility Pjanic could arrive.

He added: "If 'Mire' came to City then I would certainly not want to leave the Etihad."
